Another year, another blog… a select few of you are aware of my last blog; this is not a repeat. A quick synopsis of blogs past would be: girl dates moron, girl lets it go on for way too long, girl comes to her senses and leaves moron, but the emotional repercussions of dating one moron too many are hard for the girl to handle and she must deal with personal demons to stop the vicious cycle. In spite of the last few years being one big emotional rollercoaster; the last year has been a period of immense growth. Don’t get me wrong, this isn't a feel-good blog about rainbows and unicorns, I just wanted to get everyone on the same page as all of you know me to different extents. Also, I like to play my cards pretty close and am never keen on letting people see my weaknesses (otherwise known as my “soft” side, I have come to accept most have one and it’s not a bad thing, but a really good thing). So, that was a long-winded way to say that I’ve had a blog in the past and am starting a new one! The motivation is simple, I wanted a reason to write; and not one to make things easy on myself, I thought a photography challenge was in order!
A few months ago I came across an idea... take ONE picture (photograph) a day for an entire year (365 days). I was at a small gathering with some of my lady-friends and my friend Nancy said her husband's friend (did you follow that?) was currently in the midst of such a challenge, so I can in no way claim this idea for my own. But the idea stuck with me, it sounded like an interesting challenge. At first, it sounded extremely easy. I continued to think about it and slowly the true challenge appeared, the test of taking a unique picture every single day for an entire year will be a serious commitment. For those who really know me, I'm a bit of a gypsy and always on the move (whether it be changing jobs, moving 10 times in the last 6 years… you get the idea)... this will definitely be quite the test.
I will write about the trials and tribulations of my adventure at least once a week and post my photos daily. At first I considered having weekly "themes", but logistically it may be difficult (locations vs. existing commitments) so I have settled with allowing myself the freedom to decide on subject matter the day-of. Also, for the sake of my sanity I have decided to allow multiple photos of the same "theme"; for example I may take more than one photo of a church, it would just have to be two photos to two different churches. Also, I'm open to suggestions on subject-matter... although I will put a damper on that by asking you all to keep it clean!
This challenge will last from 01JUL/2011-30JUN/2012. Any questions?
